I type into google.com “life in korea” and what do I get? www.lifeinkorea.com
So, I think I can learn more about how to survive and prosper in Korea…well, unfortunately, it’s focus has changed from one that helps people to “live in Korea” to one that is just simply trying to make money. First huge thing that stands out is the “Hotel Reservations” — why do I need hotel reservations if I am already living here. To the right is “shopping”. While I do need to shop once in a while, I actually need directions to get to the places I would need rather than shop for everything online.
The next site I get is “Buhay sa Korea”. I’m not sure what this site is… and initially think it’s just a blog about one’s experiences here in Korea. I do find out after perusing through a bit that it’s actually a blog by “a not-so-personal weblog maintained by Betchay, a thirthyish stay-at-home mom to a baby boy… born in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, raised in Angeles City and now living with a wonderful Korean husband in Seoul, South Korea… contact me via buhaykorea AT gmail.com.” The good thing though is that it has some great links about Cultures/Traditions, Entertainment, Expat life, Family, Food, Only in Korea, Photos/Videos, & Places/Travels which may be helpful for someone living in Korea.
The next is a site about Korean Gay & Lesbian life. The one after that is called Seoul Life. Since lifeinkorea.com has a longer history than most sites, it dominates & occupies the next listing called “Life in Korea Personals.” While it does help people here in Korea, it’s again, a profit motivated site which is actually “Powered by the WorldFriends Networks” sites that are focused on dating.
What if I type in “living in Korea?” Well, the same financially motivated websites problems exist along with either being too specific or not well developed enough in terms of sites. While this site isn’t fully developed itself, it will eventually be with the help of you as readers and through the vigor of it’s creators.
Let’s celebrate a website finally dedicated in helping people “live in korea” with the most online resources available!!!

Funny how a post complaining about the monetization of sites about Korea is followed by a block og Google ads!
As to your question of “why do I need hotel reservations if I am already living here” a lot of people who live in Korea actually get out of their homes every once in a while and explore the countryside for a few days. They tend to prefer to stay at hotels instead of on park benches…

a step in the right direction, but many of the links in the sidebar are dead. Please check, correct and/or update links. Thanks and please keep up the hard work.

Sorry, but haven’t had much time to work on this. I’d love to though…
